Xiaomi will host the third edition of its Smarter Living 2021 event on September 29 at 12 pm. The company has announced the event via a media invite. As part of the event, the company will unveil new smart home devices and IoT products. The invite is accompanied with an image that hints at products like smart shoes and smart band that may be launched during the event.
Launch of the new Xiaomi smart brand — likely to be called Mi Smart Band 5 — is also hinted via a webpage on the e-commerce site Amazon. Listed under ‘AmazonSpecials’ category, the upcoming device is teased to come with a bigger display, an improved battery life and four new sports modes along with a dedicated Yoga mode. In one of the images shared, one can see the device being charged using a pinned cable. ‘Start charging in a snap’ says the Amazon page.

Meanwhile, the company has launched an entry-level Redmi 9i phone in India. Priced at Rs 8,299 onwards, the smartphone runs on MIUI 12-based on Android 10 out of the box, the Xiaomi Redmi 9i smartphone comes with a display of 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen of 1600x720p resolution with a water drop notch and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Powered by MediaTek Helio G25 processor, the device packs 4GB of RAM paired with up to 128GB internal storage. The phone comes with a dedicated microSD card to further expand the storage by up to 512GB.
On the camera front, Xiaomi Redmi 9i features a single camera on the back of 13MP with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, users get a 5MP sensor for selfies.
